Billionaire Jeff Bezos on another commercial space travel launch
On Tuesday, 20 July 2021 at 9am EST, Jeff Bezo’s commercial space travel company launched its first rocket ship to space officially joining the the billionaire space travel race 2 days after Richard Branson of Virgin Galactic glided one of Virgin Galactic’s fleet on the edge of earth and pace.
Blue Origin’s concept is quite familiar, the capsule that is catapulted and launched to space and drops back to earth on its own after separating from the rocket. The company’s capsule touched down in West Texas at about 8:22 a.m. local time Tuesday, roughly 10 minutes after it launched on Blue Origin’s New Shepard rocket. The crew experienced a few moments of weightlessness as the spaceship soared past the Karman line at an altitude of about 62 miles (100 km) above the Earth. The capsule then parachuted back and landed in a gentle way like how one sits on a chair or a feather falls on the ground.
The company has announced sale of tickets prized at $300,000.00 with flights beginning in the next years.
Earlier in February, Jeff Bezos announced that he will be stepping down as Amazon CEO as he redirected his attention to Blue Origin and space exploration, alongside other interests like climate change, politics and philanthropy.
