For a first-timer I can say NOT SO BAD!

I know I’m a few months late with posting this but better late than never! I always knew working in election campaigns would became a dream come true for me, just not when or how.

It came for me in March, 2022. My first-ever campaign was with my sister-friend, Honorable Precious Musarurwa who ran for Member of Parliament of Zimbabwe post in March. I can say that the invitation came as a surprise! I thought I was too young but then I remembered that I was fast approaching 30.

Me being me, never doubting my own maturity and skill- I went straight into the final lag of the campaign just a few weeks before the election. After all, I’m a woman of faith. I was humbled by Precious’ sheer conviction and courage in persuit of her vision. She entrusted me as a person with nuetral and sober disposition in the public dormain of local politics, given our highly polarized environment was motivating!

In May, just a month before the Pan-African Parliament elections, a greeting with His Excellency Chief Charumbira— who is from my mother’s paternal clan — landed me a communications role among his campaign team for the President and Speaker of the African Parliament’s Bureau. There, I got learn more about continental issues and our leadership while contributing in my own humble way.

I worked on these campaigns with immense enthusiasm and motivation. You know that kind of fulfilment that comes your way once in a while. These experiences were laden with lessons about strategy, strong work ethic, relentlessness, tenacity, teamwork, progressive collaboration, selfless love, and God at work!

I think I am begining to grow a fondness of election campaigns. I am definitely looking forward to taking up more projects! Thanks to my lifetime teacher, Professor Alywn Westfield, who recommended the book 101 Ways To Win an Election!
