Zimbabwe Senator Chief Fortune Charumbira today won by majority votes was declared sole Presidential candidate by Southern Africa Regional Caucus chaired by South Africa Chief Whip Pemmy Majodina. Challenger Zambia MP Miles Sampa has lost his bid. Upcoming plenary elections on Monday 25 March will determine if the Pan-African Parliament Presidential choice from Southern Africa, will complete his term after he was elected in June 2022 before Zimbabwe went for general elections in August 2023, resulting in an election being required according to African Union’s Executive Council decision.
