President Emmerson Mnangagwa of Zimbabwe

The United Africa Royal Assembly (UARA) and African traditional leaders, represented by President Prince Estifanos Matewos, have extended congratulations to His Excellency President Emmerson Mnangagwa on assuming the Chairmanship of the Southern African Development Community (SADC).

On August 9, 2024, President Emmerson Mnangagwa assumed chairmanship of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) during a precursor event to the SADC Summit to be held on August 17, 2024, in Harare, Zimbabwe. The SADC chair presides over governance and functions of the sub regional body and has the power to provide policy direction.

In his congratulatory message, Prince Matewos expressed UARA’s readiness to collaborate with President Mnangagwa in realizing a shared vision for a united, peaceful, and industrialized Southern Africa. The UARA emphasized its commitment to promoting and implementing impactful programs in education, including efforts to decolonize and modernize education systems across the region.

The message highlighted the importance of negotiating, signing, and ratifying bilateral and regional cooperation agreements to strengthen collective efforts in preserving peace and security, fostering wealth creation, and enhancing trade and investment. UARA also advocated for public-private partnerships in infrastructure development, particularly in improving the road traffic network that connects the SADC region.

Recognizing the value of people-to-people interactions and networking, the UARA pledged its support in facilitating these connections, aiming to build strong institutions and resilient communities in the spirit of Ubuntu.
